About Environment Week

Environment Week is an annual event in June that celebrates environmental accomplishments in Canada. It's also a time to encourage Canadians to make their own positive contribution towards protecting the environment.

To help your class make a positive impact on the planet this Environment Week, we developed activities that explore ideas around clean air, reducing light pollution, and renewable energy in B.C.

Relevant core competencies:

Communications

  • Connect and engage with others (to share and develop ideas)
  • Acquire, interpret and present information (includes inquiries)

Thinking

  • Creative thinking: generating ideas
  • Critical thinking: analyze and critique
  • Critical thinking: question and investigate

Social Responsibility

  • Contributing to community and caring for the environment

The activities also connected to a variety of grade-specific curricular competencies and content in a variety of subjects including Physical and Health Education, Science, Arts Education, Applied Design, Skills and Technologies, and English Language Arts.
