World Water Day was a splash

A big kudos to the 285 educators who used our Water Day activities to get students thinking about the role water plays in our lives.

Classrooms from all over the province took part in hands on activities and games which were linked to the core competencies of the curriculum and reinforced how we can protect this precious resource.

What’s next? Keep the discussions going with even more activities and videos about how water can transform into the energy that powers our lives.

About World Water Day

The United Nations initiative for World Water Day 2023 focuses on accelerating change through partnerships and cooperation.

In this campaign, students will learn how water moves, how human activity affects water and why we need to conserve water. We all need to work together to sustainably protect this precious resource.

Water plays a big role in providing clean energy, in a really cool way. We created special activities to help build understanding of the important role water plays in powering the province of B.C.

The activities engage students in thinking about how water moves, how our actions affects the availability of water and why water conservation is important. Each activity is also available with English and French student materials.

In celebration of World Water Day, our activities provide a link to the following core competencies:

  • Communications
  • Thinking
  • Social awareness and responsibility

The activities also connect to a variety of grade-specific curricular competencies and content in a variety of subjects including  Physical and Health Education, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics and Applied Design, Skills and Technologies.
